MET Museum Sept. 25th 2026

Join the NY Theremin Society for a guided workshop and learn to play the theremin in a group setting. Invented in 1920 by Russian scientist Lev Termen, the theremin marks the beginning of electronic music. Untouched, this instrument is played by studied movements in the air, producing sound by any object or mass that changes the frequency of one of the oscillators by entering the electromagnetic field.

Presented at the METROPOLITAN MUSEUM NY in conjunction with the exhibition Musical Bodies.

Free, though advanced registration is required: RSVP

Celebrating 20 years of the NYTS at Pioneerworks.org on October 12th DTBA

Pioneerworks has significantly contributed to the NYTS program developments by generously hosting a residency that enabled us to conduct on-site experiments. This invaluable support played a crucial role in the development of our first series of group theremin workshops and culminated in a NYTS concert featuring a 17-piece experimental theremin orchestra.
